Urinary tract infection
Overview
When bacteria enters your urethra and climbs up into your bladder, producing painful urination, you have a urinary tract infection (UTI). Despite the fact that the urinary system is designed to flush out bacteria, these defences occasionally fail. The bacteria in the bladder can proliferate indefinitely, resulting in an infection. If the bacteria is not treated, it can spread to the kidneys.
UTIs are categorised based on the location in which they occur. The most frequent type of UTI is cystitis, which affects the bladder. Urethritis is a condition that affects the urethra. Pyelonephritis is the name for a UTI that arises in the kidneys. Painful urination, increased frequency of urination, and increased urgency of urination are all signs of a UTI. Antibiotics are usually prescribed as part of the treatment.
